What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that are stored on your computer, tablet or smartphone when you visit our website. They ensure the website works properly, remember your preferences and help us improve the website. Alongside cookies, we sometimes use similar techniques, such as pixels and local storage; where we write ‘cookies’ in this policy, we also mean those techniques.

Which cookies do we use?

We distinguish three categories of cookies. We always place necessary and functional cookies, because the website cannot function without them. For web statistics we use a cookieless analytics service that requires no consent. We do not place any marketing or tracking cookies.

Category Consent Purpose
Necessary No consent required Essential for the website to function properly, such as remembering your cookie preferences and securing forms. Without these cookies, the site does not work as it should.
Functional No consent required Remember choices you make, such as your language or display preferences, so you do not have to set them again each time.
Analytical No consent required Help us understand how visitors use the website so that we can improve it. For this we use a cookieless, privacy-friendly analytics service (Plausible) that places no cookies and collects no personal data.

Web statistics without cookies

To measure website visits we use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-friendly analytics service. Plausible places no cookies and collects no personal data. No individual visitors are tracked and no tracking takes place across different websites or devices. All data is stored anonymised and aggregated on servers within the EU.

Because no cookies are used and no personal data is processed, we do not need to ask for your consent for this.

Third-party cookies

For some parts of the website we use third-party services. These parties may place cookies via our website. We do not have full control over what these parties do with the cookies; for that, please read their own privacy and cookie policies. Think of embedded content (such as videos) and security.

How long do we keep cookies?

The retention period differs per cookie. We distinguish two types:

  • Session cookies are deleted as soon as you close your browser.
  • Permanent cookies remain until they expire or until you delete them. We keep retention periods as short as possible.

Managing your cookie preferences

You are in control of cookies yourself. Because we only place necessary and functional cookies and use a cookieless service for statistics, we do not show a cookie banner and there is no consent to manage. Through your browser settings you can always view, block or delete cookies. Please note that the website may not work fully if you refuse necessary cookies.

You can find more information about managing cookies at your browser:

Changes to this cookie policy

We may amend this cookie policy from time to time, for example when we add new features or when laws or regulations require it. You will always find the most current version on this page. The date of the last change is shown at the top.
